What Is the Melting Point of Mica?

Oct. 26, 2017

Mica Powder is a general term for potassium, aluminum, magnesium, iron, lithium layered structure, common type, not easy to conclude its crystal melting point, but generally at about 1800 degree or higher.

Mica is usually a pseudo six or rhombic plate, flake, columnar crystal shape. The color varies with the change of chemical composition, and become darker with the increase of Fe content. Muscovite Mica is colorless transparent or light colored, biotite mica is black to dark brown, dark green color. Phlogopite mica is yellow, brown, green or colorless. The luster of glass is pearly luster on the cleavage surface. Mohs hardness generally 2-3.5, specific gravity 2.7-3.5. Muscovite and phlogopite mica has good insulating performance, and widely used to make insulating material
